I came up with this window sticker idea for an ad/competition by a Swedish data analytics company.
They were looking for a designer to create 2 stickers for their office windows to advertise a position for a coder. They wanted it in the colour of yellow and/or blue because those are the colours of their brand. They used to have stickers before but the problem was that those made the office itself too dark so that was an issue that needed to be solved by a new, creative design.
My idea was to use yellow vinyl only because it’s light enough so it won’t make the office too dark and also it will be visible and easy to read from outside no matter if the lights inside are on or off. But still, I wanted to cover as little surface as possible with the design to keep the windows as transparent as they can be.
Since blue was out of the picture, and I didn’t want to just create a ‘text only’ sticker, I had to come up with an idea how to make the design more exciting. I made another shade of yellow in a way by creating a half colour/half negative space texture of binary code. (I used a website where you can translate any text into binary code and I typed in the exact words of the ad.) Plus the text bit is solely negative space so I pretty much ended up having 3 shades technically even though I only had yellow to work with.
Unfortunately the job wasn’t awarded to me at the end but I still thought it was a creative idea worth uploading.
