This Statue of the Force art print has to be one of my favourite creations I did recently. Alongside with ‘The Home of the Cone’ one, of course. Which was another idea involving the Statue of Liberty.
It is such an iconic monument with sooo many possibilities when it comes to photo manipulation. Recently I started to watch the Star Wars movies (about time, I guess) and this lightsaber idea was pretty much a given to be fair. The handle was already there so I only had to create the laser part.
But of course, I had to cut around the entire statue to be able to switch the background image. Lots of people would suggest to use the magic wand tool or the quick selection tool to do that but I always find them too inaccurate so I always have to zoom in and slowly do the selection manually. It takes for ages but it’s the only accurate way in my opinion.
I really loved this pink cloud image I found on Pexels because the colours work so perfectly with the minty colour of the statue. I also incorporated another photo in the sky to make it more starry (or shall I say star warsy?). And finally I toned down the colour of the base because originally it was too bright and it drew the eyes too much. I wanted to keep the main focus on the statue itself.
These posters are available for purchase here. There are many different sizes and frames to choose from.
