Stainglass Design

A young couple contacted me recently with a very interesting project proposal.

They told me that they are getting married in November and the ceremony sight has an electronic signboard behind the altar where they can display images. They both thought that it would be really pretty to have a custom stain glass window design for it so they asked me to be the graphic designer who creates this art work for them.

I was very intrigued because I loooove doing illustrations. Images that are purely about aesthetics and beauty without the marketing component will always be my favourite things to create.

My clients wanted a stainglass design that is 3000 x 10500 pixels in size, modern looking and features the colours of burgundy, green and gold. So I created this wavy, non-figurative and asymmetrical pattern first. In order to achieve a somewhat photo-realistic look at the end I drew the contours with isograph pen and then scanned the image to continue with my computer editing programs. I came up with several colour combinations so they could have options and find the best possible version for their taste. I also pulled many layers over the design to make it look less perfect or less artificially constructed.
