Neurotic

I’ll be honest, it’s not easy to write lengthy descriptions about minimalistic designs. So I’ll try to bulk this text out with something loosely related. 😀

When it comes to new design ideas, sometimes I have to really force my brain to work and come up with new concepts. They’re usually not great nor complete right away and need further thinking and refining. Other times the right and already complete idea just comes to me in a random moment, when I do something completely unrelated.

If I remember correctly, the process of coming up with this Neurotic design was a mix of both. I was thinking of well-known phrases with the intention of modifying them slightly in order to achieve something funny and/or art print-worthy. This was the conscious part of the process. At one point the famous ‘I think, therefore I am.’ quote came to me by Descartes. I thought that it was such an iconic sentence that it would be amazing if I could do something with it.

So I was repeating it in my head, trying to play around with the words and when I stopped forcing it, the idea of ‘I overthink, therefore I am neurotic.’ came to me. I wrote it down immediately. I knew then that if I ever make this idea happen in any form, the graphics part will have to be laid-back and minimalistic in order the let the idea itself shine.
