Menu Board Concept for The Juice Smith

I designed this Menu Board Concept for The Juice Smith. They were going to update their menu boards at ACS and wanted to revamp the old design.

When it comes to menus, I think it’s very important to focus on the hierarchy between headers, subtitles and body text and keep the disctincion between them sharp enough. This way it’s easy for customers to see through the menu immediately when they walk in and be able to find what they’re looking for as quick as possible. When choosing the fonts and their sizes, I like to double check the overall image by squinting: if I can still tell the titles, subtitles and body text apart, I’m doing a good job.

Other than making sure that the text itself is edited nicely, I added a few simple design elements to break up the monotonity: circles for the prices, dotted lines, bands and so forth. They don’t only add a slight playfulness to the overall look but also further clarify what’s what.

The project fell through at the end unfortunately but since the design was pretty much done already, I decided to upload it anyway.

For the mockups I used these beautiful photos from www.pexels.com where you can find royalty free images uploaded by individuals from all over the world. For the first one I used Marta Dzedyshko’s photo and for the second one Brigitte Tohm’s image.
