I came up with this logo design for Changing Colour that is a Surrey based electro funk and soul band .
Their vision was a simple butterfly logo that looks like a prehistoric painting on the wall of a cave. They specifically asked me to make it look rough and untidy and use all sorts of bright and inviting colours.
So I took my watercolour paper, ink and brushes and painted a couple dozen of butterflies. I scanned them all and then built this final image using the best features and nicest looking parts of those butterfly paintings. When the guys approved the shape, I transformed the pixel-based art work into a vector-based one with Adobe Illustrator.
After that it was time to find the right colour/texture. I sent my clients many- many different versions all featuring bright swirls of colours and they ended up choosing all of them to use on different platforms and for different occasions.
Since the main purpose of this logo was to be featured on Changing Colour’s social media, I added a complementary header image to the bundle that uses the same swirly image and a very simple text in the middle.
