I was hired by Jungli by Nature to create illustrations for their instagram as well as some apparel designs for their online shop.
Jungli by Nature is a newly-established apparel company based in New Jersey that’s all about being badass, fearless and rebellious. The word ‘jungli’ itself means wild, untamed and savage in Hindi. This is the overall vibe that the illustrations had to exude.
I was shown a Pinterest moodboard at the beginning that consisted of really cool illustrations from quite simple line art examples, to more complex images that mixed photography with digital illustrations. I have always admired the use of mixed medias and was really happy to create such content.
The very first image I was asked to create was this seamless mudra pattern one. Shreya (founder of Jungli by Nature) asked me to draw hands that have pointy black nails though to turn the traditional Hindi elements into something more ‘badass’ (her words, haha). This badassness remained the common thread in all of the art works that followed and I’m looking forward to creating more.
