It all started with wanting to send a little chocolate treat and a hand-crafted card to my boyfriend. However, I got so inspired by the card I made that I just couldn’t stop thinking about further possible versions with different colours and before I knew, I had made 4 Hand-made Greeting Cards with matching envelopes.
I bought this pack of 15 blank cards with envelopes from Poundland both in white and brown ages ago and I made it a habit to draw on them and give it to relatives and friends for all sorts of occasions.
But this time I had the idea of cutting out shapes and incorporating other colourful thick papers too and I must say, I love the results! They’re quite minimalistic and sleek (especially the gold ones), nothing over the top, just geometric shapes, straight and narrow lines and a little bit of shine for that luxurious feel. Since there is no text, it’s perfect for every and any occasion. It’s even better when there’s no special occasion whatsoever!
After I was done with crafting these cards, I wanted to take some nice ‘portfolio worthy’ photos of them. I just felt like I was never able to take great pictures of my work because of the lack of equipment or ability or both. So I kept putting it off like I used to do with those books I was meant to read during the summer break. But then I finally forced myself to get it done and the idea came to me: why don’t I try to use one of those thick papers from my stash and create a seamless background like professionals do on photo shoots? So that’s what I did and I didn’t think it was going to look this great to be honest! As a final step I retouched the images in PhotoShop: smoothed out the little crinkles and scratches and added a little extra brightness to the images.
