Geometric Stationery Design

I made this geometric stationery design for a law firm that provides immigration law services to clients in London. They needed a letterhead, compliments slip and business card to be designed for them.

My client sent over a few examples from the internet that she was fond of. They were quite different from each other but most of them had some kind of geometric shapes on them, arranged in a symmetrical manner so they would result a bigger, more complex shape, with colours that harmonise with each other. One of them had a black and white photo of New York on it, which I was happy to see because I love incorporating photos in my work. She also asked me to use purple and teal because those are her favourite colours. I love those two as well, especially combined together because they complement each other perfectly.

I immediately knew that it had to be a geometric design for her but I preferred to do it my way, which means asymmetry, modern look, bright colours balanced out with black and white photos. I started to sketch triangles in my squared notebook (the grating helped me with proportions). The second try turned out to be the exact layout I went with. Every single one of the triangles had an individual shape, however, the end result still looked organised because I worked with only 3 sizes (roughly): small, medium and large. Moreover, the angles of the sides next to each other were matching and all of the gaps between the triangles had the same width as well.
