While some posters take a lot of brainstorming and trying to figure out the ins and outs of executing it the right way, creating this Fish Bulb poster was smooth sailing. (Does this count as a pun? Let’s say it does!)
In my mind I often play around with creative concepts where I replace one element with something else that looks very similar but serves a completely different purpose in real life. And when I was browsing on Pexels (as I often do when I need royalty free stock images for a project) and saw this image, I immediately knew that the bulb needs to be turned into a fish tank.
It didn’t even need too much editing (compared to some stock images I used for my other art prints) because it was already so clean and neat. I only had to ‘clean’ the inside of the bulb. After that I just had to find images of fish where the background was also dark or black. Because the fins are so seethrough, any other background colour would have made them look weirldly opaque and out of place. After adding some bubbles the magic trick was complete!
