Bespoke Wedding Invitation Card

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something original.

That’s how I would sum up this project that I made for a dear friend of mine who has recently got married. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it to their wedding and didn’t have the chance to congratulate them properly. So I decided to design a bespoke wedding invitation card for them because I wanted to give a truly authentic gift that I spent time and effort on.

I never really understood why all the wedding cards have to be pink and pearlescent and have flowers, wedding rings and golden cursive letters on them. As if all the brides were girly girls and non of the groom’s opinions mattered.

I wanted to come up with a design that goes against mainstream and is equally tailored to both members of the couple. Rita has graduated in Indology from University and has been to India herself more times ever since. I guess I immediately knew that I wanted to use henna motives on her side of the card. Victor on the other hand is a graphic designer who likes street art so I wanted his side to be modern and asymmetric. I tried to connect the two parts in a coherent manner as much as possible and smoothly transform the traditional and central symmetric motives into a surreal piece of artwork.
