Astronaut Hologram

This ‘Astronaut Hologram’ art print is an updated version of one of my old creations.

The background image is one of my own photos that I took in the Badlands National Park in South Dakota back in 2013 or so. I did no editing on it, except for making it black and white but that wasn’t even a drastic change. It was such a mystical, foggy morning that the landscape already looked out of this world. As I was walking around, I imagined to walk on another planet. The fog felt like heavy, cool velvet on my skin. I’ve never experienced such thick silence in nature before. It was only broken by the faint bleats of mountain goats time to time. So that experience inspired this Astronaut Hologram art print of mine.

As for the astronaut, I used this image from Pexels. Pexels is one of those amazing sites where the stock photos are ACTUALLY free to use for anything and everything. Even for print on demand projects. I also spiced up this astronaut with a little effect to make it look like a hologram. I thought it looked very cool and different.

When I looked at the art work at this stage, I felt like it was missing something from the background. I decided to add a planet to make it more mystical and sci-fi. I actually used this picture of Venus and combined it with the rings of Saturn, both of which are from Nasa’s collection on Unsplash. (Another stock image site with fully free pictures.)

This poster is available for purchase here. Plenty of sizes and frames to choose from!
