2 in 1

In this series I created each picture by combining 2 photos that don’t have much in common and still they became close friends because I forced them to.

There was a class that I took at University, called ‘Theory of Architecture’. (When I say ‘I took’ it sounds like I had a choice.) I remember one presentation especially, when the teacher was talking about doors as basic architectural elements and the practical use and theoretical meaning of them.

He philosophised about the fact that they separate and connect at the same time. They are the boundary between outside and inside, private and public, mine and yours.

This philosophy planted a seed in my mind and years later the idea of this 2 in 1 project grew out of it. I created an imaginary world when you never know what is waiting for you on the other side of the door. One thing is for sure: it will be something unexpected.
