DIY Fairy Shoes

Fairy shoes are a sweet creation for those days when one feels a bit creative and wants to indulge.

INGREDIENTS:

– a pair of high heels

– 10 gramms of glitter

– glossy decoupage glue plus a saucer thing to pour some glue on (I used an old margarine lid)

– a brush (preferably a thin one for a more precise result)

– masking tape

– scissors

– old newspapers (what a paradox!)

– great hoovering skills

METHOD:

1. Start with putting masking tape around the bottom of your shoes to protect them from glue and unwanted glitter. You can use more than one layer so the glue won’t leak through the tape. I put masking tape over the toe bit too because I thought that it would come off anyway when I walk on it and that would probably happen in a tacky manner. So instead, I taped it in a way to make a nice arch.

2. The next step is to lay down newspapers unless you want your surroundings to be covered with glitter forever. (Forever!)

3. Now press out some glue on the saucer and apply one layer on the bottom of a shoe.

4. Next step is the real fun part: pour the glitter over the glue. You can just pour it right out of the pot/sachet. It made me feel like I’m a fairy and I’m sprinkling magic power around 🙂 I used one of my papers to recycle  the fallen glitter and poured them back in the sachet.

5. Repeat it with the other shoe and let them dry for……Well I let them dry for a day.

6. EXACTLY 24 hours later I painted an additional layer of glue on the top of glittered bottoms and poured another layer of glitter on them to avoid any patchiness.

7. Another day later I painted them with another layer to seal the glitter and prevent any fallout. Unfortunately it took away most of the holographic effect of the glitter, so….

8. The next day I made an additional (The last, I promise! Who told you I have glitter issues?? I don’t even think about glitter anymore.) glue+glitter layer ignoring the fact that everywhere I go, I will leave a sparkly track behind me.

9. One day later when everything is dried up, remove the masking tape and wipe off your tears of joy.

10. Clean up the mess you caused.  Enjoy!
